THE METHODS USED.

1) Polynomial fit - 5th order polynomial automatically fitted to 

   spectrum3 (standard Bruker software).

   Calculation time : seconds


2) Linear prediction - Bruker linear prediction routine used to 

   replace initial points of fid4 .

   Calculation time : From seconds to hours.


3) Median extrema method - The baseline is approximated as the 

   median of the local extrema within a user specified window5 .

   Calculation time : Seconds


4) Maximum entropy initial point - maximum entropy 

   simulation of the spectrum is used to replace the initial points of 

   the fid.

   Calculation time : Minutes


5) Maximum entropy full simulation - The data is simulated as 

   the combination of narrow linewidth peak information (positive 

   and negative separately) and "wide" linewidth baselin

   information. The best balance of information is chosen using 

   maximum entropy methods.

   Calculation time : Minutes.
